About Us

The Dorothy Mitchell-Kincaid Beloved Community Outreach Foundation, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation (Foundation), established in 2013.  The Foundation aims to educate, empower and encourage patients living with chronic illness.  We offer assistant with doctor co-pays, rent, food, utilities, gas for travel and emotional support.  It is our goal to ensure that citizens struggling with these issues, find service and support with contacts that encourage them in and during difficult moments in their lives.  Since our beginning in 2013, we have served over 696 families.

Envision yourself as a stable provider for your family one day and the next a catastrophic illness forces you out of work and unable to provide necessities for them. This is the reality for many families in our community. In spite of the many resources available a number of Blount County families slip through the crack for services.  We are here to help.

The Mission of the Beloved Community Outreach Foundation is to live out its faith by providing financial, emotional and spiritual support to residents of Blount County living with chronic illness

Regular Meetings

Third Thursday of each month @ 1:00 p.m., St. Paul AME Zion Church, 401 W. Broadway, Maryville, TN  37801.

Dorothy's Story

Dorothy Mitchell Kincaid, Founder (Deceased)

It’s amazing to think that millions of people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. I and somebody close to me is one of them. On April 10, 2012, I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and the realization of the need became real to me. We all should participate in events that can help because we’ve been affected by cancer in some way and because a Relay for Life event gives us the power to make a difference and fight back. This is my opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and help raise funds for groundbreaking research, information and services for people fighting cancer. Together, we have the power to help create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone’s life. This is a scary journey and hopefully you will join me.

It has been a journey that family, who’s been through it, can only understand – and even then, it is indescribable. To say thank you, doesn’t seem enough. All who know me – know that I can never ‘take it easy’ so as I was relaxing one evening – I thought ‘something else must be done’. This is what Rev. Dr. Willa Estell has allowed me to venture out and help establish, The Beloved Community Outreach Foundation, Inc.
